Privacy
This site has no forms, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. The only personal data involved is what the web server records automatically, and anything you choose to send me by email.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by [YOUR FULL LEGAL NAME], a private individual, at [ADDRESS OR “address available on request”], [Italy]. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679) I am the data controller for the processing described below.
For any question about this notice or your data, write to contact@benchcraft.org.
What this site does not do
To be explicit, since it is unusual: this site does not use analytics of any kind, does not carry advertising, does not embed third-party content such as video players, web fonts loaded from third parties, social widgets, or comment systems, and does not build profiles of visitors or make automated decisions about them.
There is no contact form. There is no newsletter. Nothing is sold and no data is shared with or sold to anyone.
Server logs
The site runs on hosting provided by [Register S.p.A. / Register.it], whose servers automatically record technical information about each request. This typically includes the visiting IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page, and the browser and operating system reported by your device.
An IP address is personal data under the GDPR, so this processing is described here even though I do not consult these logs routinely.
- Purpose. Operating the site securely and reliably, and diagnosing faults or abuse.
- Legal basis. Legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, in keeping the site available and protected.
- Retention. [X DAYS — ask Register.it and state their figure].
- Who processes it. The hosting provider, acting as processor on my instructions. Servers are located in [the European Union — confirm with Register.it].
Cookies
No cookies are set for ordinary visitors, and there is therefore no consent banner. WordPress sets a session cookie only when the site administrator logs in to the management area, which is strictly necessary for that function and affects no one else.
If you write to me
If you send an email to the address above, I receive your message together with your email address and whatever you choose to include. I use it only to reply and, where the message concerns a correction to published material, to keep a record of how the correction was handled.
- Legal basis. Legitimate interest in responding to correspondence, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
- Retention. Correspondence is kept for as long as it remains relevant, and correction requests are kept as part of the published record. [Adjust if you intend a fixed period.]
- Provider. Email is handled by [MAILBOX PROVIDER].
Email is not a secure medium. Please do not send confidential or sensitive information by email.
Your rights
Where the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to ask for access to the personal data I hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to have its processing restricted, to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, and to receive it in a portable form.
To exercise any of these, write to contact@benchcraft.org. I will respond within one month.
In practice, for a visitor who has never written to me, the only data that exists is a server log entry that I cannot connect to a person. A request about it will need enough detail — an IP address and an approximate time — for the entry to be located at all.
Complaints
If you believe your data has been handled improperly you may complain to the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the authority in your country of residence.
Visitors outside the European Union
The site is written for an international readership. Wherever you are, the description above is complete: the site itself collects nothing beyond the server logs described, and I do not disclose personal information to anyone.
Links to other sites
Findings link to papers, repositories, and other external material. Those sites have their own privacy practices, over which I have no control. This notice covers only benchcraft.org.
Changes to this notice
If the site changes in a way that affects this notice — for example if analytics or a contact form were ever added — this page will be updated before that change goes live, and the date below will change.
